HOW TO BORROW AIRTIME (XTRATIME) AND INTERNET DATA (XTRABYTE) FROM MTN NIGERIA
There are some situations we may find ourselves sometimes, maybe we are on a long journey or have travelled to a remote place in which there is mobile network but no place in which you can easily get a recharge to put on your line to make calls and subscribe for internet subscription.
That is the reason why I want our esteemed readers to know the methods and codes that are being used to borrow credit and data from our mobile network.
We shall be dealing with MTN Nigeria here, for you to be eligible, the following conditions must be met:
- Must be a prepaid customer and the phone number must be fully registered
- The customer must have been on the MTN network for more than 3 months
- And also must have spent N200 monthly for 3 months.

Once all the conditions above have been met, they you are qualified to borrow either airtime (XtraTime) or data (XtraByte) from MTN.
HOW TO BORROW THE XTRATIIME AND XTABYTE
A service charge of 15% of the requested airtime is charged for each successful request, and the amount you will be able to get will depend on how much you recharge on your account at a particular time, if you do recharge higher amounts, you will also be given enough Xtratime money and Xtrabyte data.
The first thing you will need to do is to dial *606# from your MTN line, or by sending “keywords” to 606 via SMS. After doing any of the two, some options will pop out for you, it will ask you whether you want to borrow MTN airtime (Xtratime) or MTN data (Xtrabyte), then you will now be given the available amount of Naira you can borrow as airtime at that particular time.
And if it is data you intend to borrow, it will give you options of the amount of data they can borrow you at a particular time with their validity period.
And please note that, a customer will not be able to transfer airtime from the Xratime balance to friends and family via Share n Sell.
HOW TO PAY THE DEBT BACK WHETHER FOR AIRTIME (XTRATIME) OR DATA (XTRABYTE)
The choice is now yours to go ahead and borrow any amount of airtime and any amount of data you desire, but just have it at the back of your mind that when next you recharge your line, the amount you owe will be automatically deducted with necessary interest allotted, and if the recharge you have credited into your account can not offset the debt on ground, the outstanding amount will be removed on your next recharge.
CAN I STILL BORROW EVEN IF I HAVE OUTSTANDING DEBT?
MTN Nigeria still borrow their customers airtime or data, even if they have outstanding debt on ground, they don’t really want their customers to be stranded at any time, so by this, I give them kudos for that.
